Yesterday, Greg mentioned this new product called Freephoneline.

You can get your own free phone service, including your very own free local telephone number that you can keep for life.

    http://www.freephoneline.ca

I’m not totally set up for this yet (i.e., outgoing calls) but I tried it by phoning a voice message to my new number and it worked. Check it out.

    Good morning,
    Thanks for the codes….Much appreciated.

Also I use freephoneline.ca , good service.  The cost is $50 (a one time fee) for a SIP setup number as well you will require VOIP modem if you don’t want to use the free softphone program.  FYI… Canada Computers sells a Linksys PAP2T-NA modem for $57 taxes in. SO once this is done there is no monthly fees and no long distance to most of the major Canadian cities.
    Regards,
    Benny

Here is your “One of the first signs of Spring is always when you see motorcycles get back on the road. Yesterday I saw my first one, kinda…. it was a Vespa Scooter!” edition of Today’s FUNny and Did You Know :?

    Dumb, Dumber & Dumbest

AT&T fired President John Walter after nine months, saying he lacked intellectual leadership. He received a $26 million severance package. Perhaps it’s not Walter who’s lacking intelligence.

Police in Oakland, CA spent two hours attempting to subdue a gunman who had barricaded himself inside his home. After firing ten tear gas canisters, officers discovered that the man was standing beside them in the police line, shouting, “Please come out and give yourself up.”
    .
An Illinois man, pretending to have a gun, kidnapped a motorist and forced him to drive to two different automated teller machines, wherein the kidnapper proceeded to withdraw money from his own bank accounts.
    .
A man walked into a Topeka, Kansas Kwik Stop and asked for all the money in the cash drawer. Apparently, the take was too small, so he tied up the store clerk and worked the counter himself for three hours until police showed up and grabbed him.

got up to pop some tylenol and back to the rack. thx for the codes. As a drummer I wish the pounding that is going on in my head would at least keep time – its kind of a syncopated off-beat rhythm and does not resemble any song I know.

    Good Morning Folks,
    LADY’S YEARLY EXAM

I went to the doctor for my yearly physical. The nurse started with certain basics.

“How much do you weigh?” she asked.
    “135,” I said.
The nurse put me on the scale. It turns out my weight is 180.

    The nurse asked, “Your height?”
    “5 foot 4,” I said.
The nurse checked and saw that I only measure 5′ 2″

She then took my blood pressure and told me that it is very high.

“Of course it’s high!” I screamed, ‘When I came in here I was tall and slender! Now I’m short and fat!”

    She put me on Prozac.

    What a bitch

    You’ve Got Mail

Working at the post office, I’m used to dealing with a moody public. So, when one irate customer stormed my desk, I responded in my calmest voice, “What’s the trouble?”
“I went out this morning,” she began, “and when I came home, I found a card saying the mailman tried to deliver a package, but no one was home. I’ll have you know, my husband was in all morning! He never heard a thing!”
After apologizing, I got her parcel.
“Oh good!” she gushed. “We’ve been waiting for this for ages!”
    “What is it?” I asked.
    “My husband’s new hearing aid.”

Why in Ottawa is it okay for bylaw officers to park at meters and not pay or for them to park in “No Parking” or “No Stopping” zones?  Us normal people do that and we get a ticket or towed!!

I had a nightschool teacher that lived in Gatineau – and he biked across the bridge and all the way down the parkway to Kanata every Tuesday night…
Then he showed up one day with his arm in a temporary sling (made out of his flanel shirt) and 2 huge bruises on his face.  Apparently someone had hit him from behind and kept driving.
While kudos for “environment friendly” are due, questions regarding sanity are raised (lol)  Nothing personal Zappa – if yer still in one piece then yer still doin fine :D

lol Actually I am lucky because I can ride to work staying mainly on the bike paths and only do roads for a very short period.

Hell I question my own sanity some mornings lol

@ mornindude:  You can check on the homepage for further information including a FAQ.  I have cable internet and it seems to work fine (except that I need to buy a proper headset/microphone combo … for now I have a free voice-mail box!).  Benny seems to know his way around this app so maybe he can answer more difficult questions.  Good luck with it.

    @Zappafancan

Sorry, but these are motorcycles. This guy has been driving when there was ice and snow on the roads….If this guy has a deathwish thats fine, but when he wipes out on an ice patch, and the poor guy behind him, in a car, with snow tires alll around has to swerve so that he doesnt run over Bike Guy, but ends up hitting the lady on the sidewalk pushing a baby carriage, and carrying a bag of groceries home to an ailing mother…you get the idea, then he really isn’t the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Bikes riding on bike paths. fine with me…do those get plowed?

  36. Benny  |  March 3rd, 2010 at 4:53 pm #

    Hi,
I’ll try to answer your freephoneline.ca question…..well its an internet (Vice over IP) phone service, so an internet connection is needed (Bell DSL or cable).
The soft phone application is a pc based software (Mac is now supported as well) service that requires a headset with a microphone…your computer needs to be on while you use the service.  (But it’s free of charge but has limitations.)
VOIP modem method connects to your router and doesn’t require your pc to be on to use(As well you have more setup options with this method).  Once connected to your router it becomes a stand alone unit that allows you to connect your cordless home phone to.  But this unit requires the purchase of a SIP config file that is a one time fee of $50.
It’s not a perfect system…has some bugs, but I use this and a cell phone with an extra addon called magic number.  http://en.alldaytalk.com/Cell/cellphone_magicnumber.asp
I was tired of paying Bell for an over priced service.  Something I learned if you are concerned about having access to the 911 service,  you can still dial 911 with a disconnected home or cell phone.
Well the price is $10 per month (Taxes in)which gives you an unlimited cell phone number for incoming and outgoing calls.  (It’s a call forwarding service).  But you need to have the following service enabled on your plan to take advantage of it…..

    Telus   My Fave
    Roger  My 5
    Bell      My Fab Five
    Koodo Five Essentials
    Virgin   myCRE

    Well I hope this helps.
    Regards,
    Benny

the first true sign of spring is robins. With all this warm weather it should only be a couple of more weeks to warm the ground enough for the worms to show, then the robins will come.
